I have an Access 2013 database. I have had it split all through the development process. It performs very well as a split database in testing. I have created an ACCDE file which also performs very well against the backend. BUT! I have just password protected the backend and now ... OMG ... EVERYTHING takes forever. For example, a form that takes literally no calculable time to display normally is taking more than 20 seconds.
I read somewhere that I should have a ghost form somewhere that opens a table from the backend and holds it open just to maintain connection, thus speeding up all other connections. Any thought on the problem at hand and this potential solution would be appreciated.
